KeltenLAND at the Riverside
For the first time this year the municipal museums of Aschaffenburg present a major exhibition on the Celts. This is held to coincide with a meeting of the French Society for Iron Age Research (Association Française pour l’Étude de l’Âge du Fer), which is holding its traditional annual meeting in Germany for the first time since its inception (13 to 16.5.2010). The following institutions and groups are attending the meeting: the Roman-Germanic National Museum in Mainz, the Roman-Germanic Commission in Frankfurt and the two Institutes for Pre- and Early History of the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the Johannes-Guttenberg University in Mainz.
Under the patronage of Lord Mayor Klaus Herzog the exhibition to be held in the Schlossmuseum displays evidence of Celtic life in the Rhine-Main area. Numerous loan items and items from the municipal collections chart a Europe-wide network of technical, economic and cultural links between peoples and individuals in the centuries before the birth of Christ.
